About CryoPen

How does Cryotherapy work?

CryoPen® targets a fine jet of intense cold nitrous oxide to damage the tissue of the targeted blemish. When removing a mole, for example, the cold destroys the tissue of the mole itself, which will usually crust over and darken for a couple of weeks as new, healthy skin forms underneath. The crusts will drop off, leaving you with pink, healthy skin where the mole used to be. The treatment harnesses the power of intense but precisely targeted cold nitrous oxide to destroy unwanted tissue and stimulate the regrowth of clear skin.

Does CryoPen® treatment hurt?

Our clients tell us they are aware of the cold as nitrous oxide contacts the skin, but that any pain or discomfort is minimal or non-existent. Our medical nurse prescriber will be with you the whole time to deliver the treatment and monitor your comfort level.

How long does CryoPen® take to work?

This depends on the length and location of the freeze. A blister will typically develop on the treated area during the first 24 hours after treatment, lasting from 2 to 5 days. A scab usually forms, depending on how deep the treatment needed to go, which will fall off over time to reveal healthy skin. In general, healing takes 2 to 6 weeks in all.

How safe is CryoPen® treatment?

Cryotherapy is widely considered to be a safe and highly effective treatment.

Will CryoPen® Treatment leave a scar?

Of all the methods of removing skin lesions, CryoPen® leaves the least amount of scarring because it causes the least damage to the connective tissue. If a larger lesion has been removed there might be a faint mark, but it will be far less noticeable than the blemish itself.
